| A Bird Dog (call sign Covey 5) had just taken off from the forward base at Khe Sanh just south of the DMZ when it was hit by ground fire. The crew bailed out and were eventually recovered with only minor injuries. This camp was particularly vulnerable and would become the centre of attention in early 1968. |
