Two FACs were lost on the 20th in different regions of South Vietnam. Maj Jones was shot down five miles northwest of Bong Son, about 45 miles north of his base at Qui Nhon. The aircraft (call sign Herb 1) was hit by automatic weapons fire and crashed but Maj Jones escaped with only minor injuries and was later rescued.
