| Although two O-2s had been lost during an airfield attack on 6 August, the first O-2 to be lost in the air was shot down on 14 September. Capt Brewer (call sign Togo 8) was returning to Da Nang from a FAC mission when he was shot down by ground fire about seven miles northeast of Quang Ngai. The aircraft crashed in flames and Capt Brewer was killed instantly. |
