| During a visual reconnaissance mission near Khu Tru Mat, 10 miles north of Bien Hoa, a Bird Dog (call sign Kenny 1) was hit in the engine by small arms fire. Maj Siebert was badly injured during the ensuing crash landing but was recovered by an Army helicopter. |
