| A Bird Dog (call sign Walt 7) was flying a visual reconnaissance mission under a 600 feet-cloud base 70 miles northeast of Saigon and 15 miles northwest of the town of Bao Loc. As it was forced to fly so low it was easy prey to ground fire and sure enough it was hit in the engine by small arms fire. Capt Nenninger skilfully crash-landed the aircraft and emerged completely unscathed. He was rescued by a HH-43F Huskie from Bien Hoa. |
