| A Bird Dog FAC (call sign Walt 7) was controlling a close air support operation about 10 miles east of Phan Rang airfield when it was hit by ground fire. With a faltering engine and the aircraft on fire, 1Lt Trisko flew the aircraft away from known enemy positions but he suffered major injuries during the subsequent crash-landing. He was rescued by a HH-43 Huskie helicopter. |
