| The area west of Hué was becoming extremely unhealthy for US aircraft. An O-2 (call sign Rash 2) was shot down by ground fire in the A Shau Valley area close to where a 29th TAS Hercules 60-0298 had crashed two days earlier. The O-2 was flying a visual reconnaissance mission at night, possibly in connection with the loss of the Hercules. Capt Lang was killed when the O-2 crashed, although it appears that a USAF helicopter reached the wreck site and recovered his body. |
