| The USAF also lost a reconnaissance aircraft (call sign Vacuum) on the 18th. Capt Uyeyama and Capt Gist went missing during a mission near Dong Hoi in North Vietnam. Capt Uyeyama was captured and spent the rest of the war as a prisoner but Capt Gist was killed. Terry Uyeyama had flown 101 combat missions before being shot down. He was released on 14 March 1973. |
