| An O-2 FAC (call sign Lopez 5) was shot down as it was controlling an air strike near Ha Tan, 15 miles southwest of Da Nang. The rear engine was put out of action by .50 calibre gunfire but Maj Loftus eased the aircraft down from 1,000 feet and force-landed without injury. The crew were airlifted out by an Army helicopter and the O-2 was destroyed. |
