| The Ranger had rejoined TF 77 on 12 November 1968 for its fourth war cruise, commencing operations on the line 17 days later. Its first casualty was a Skyhawk that apparently made a normal catapult launch only to descend into the sea and explode. Sadly, the pilot was killed in the accident, the cause of which was never positively identified. |
