| A Bird Dog FAC (call sign Cutie) was flying just north of the Song Da Rang River when it was hit by small arms fire. The engine was damaged so the pilot made a crash-landing about six miles northwest of Tuy Hoa suffering major injuries in the process. He was picked up by an Army helicopter and evacuated to a medical facility, possibly to one of the ships that served as floating hospitals just off the South Vietnamese coast. |
