| A Bird Dog FAC aircraft (call sign Bomber 3) was shot down by automatic weapons fire near Ap Bac, about 40 miles southwest of Saigon. The pilot was found dead in the wreckage of his aircraft when an Army helicopter arrived at the scene a short while later. |
