| A flight of Phantoms from Chu Lai was sent to provide close air support to ground forces just below the DMZ. 1Lt Cecka was pulling up from his third pass over the target when his aircraft (call sign Love Bug) was hit by ground fire and burst into flames. He headed east and the crew ejected about four miles off the coast from where they were picked up by a Navy ship. |
