Another FAC was shot down during a mission in Cambodia on the 7th. 1Lt Galvani and his Vietnamese observer were supporting special forces on a mission near O Rang, just across the Cambodian border near Bu Krak. The O-2 (call sign Mike 5) was hit by ground fire as it was orbiting at 2,000 feet near the friendly forces. 1Lt Galvani crash-landed the aircraft and he and Lt Dau were rescued by a VNAF CH-34 helicopter supported by UH-1P gunships from the 20th SOS. |
