Capt Lynn E Guenther (POW) |
A FAC (call sign Nail) was controlling an air strike just to the south of the Ban Karai Pass when the Bronco was shot down by ground fire. Capt Guenther injured his left shoulder and left eye during the ejection and was captured and sent to North Vietnam where he was operated on for his injuries. He was released from captivity on 12 February 1973. Capt Guenther had previously flown KC-135 tankers with the 909th ARS in the USA before volunteering for duty as a FAC in Southeast Asia |
