The second Phantom lost on the 20th was a FAC aircraft (call sign Stormy) that was taking part in a bombing mission on a section of road on the Ho Chi Minh Trail about 20 miles west of Khe Sanh. The aircraft was hit in the fuselage by 23mm AAA and burst into flames. The crew ejected a few miles from the road and were eventually rescued by a US Army helicopter. |
