| An O-2 FAC (call sign Sundog 1) was shot down during a mission over Cambodia and the pilot killed when the cockpit was shattered by ground fire. The observer, SSgt Silva, survived the subsequent crash and was rescued by a HH-53C from the 40th ARRS. 1Lt Christy’s body was repatriated to the USA and buried in the cemetery of the Air Force Academy. |
