| The situation around Hué was improving and the NVA showing signs of retreating to the north. Capt Hovston was flying a night FAC mission when his aircraft (call sign Covey) was shot down by automatic weapons fire 10 miles to the southwest of Hué. He bailed out safely and was later rescued by a US Army helicopter. |
