Another Bronco was lost in the vicinity of Quang Tri the day after Steve Bennet’s aircraft was brought down. 1Lt Steincamp was flying a FAC mission, probably with a Vietnamese observer, when their aircraft (call sign Nail) was hit by ground fire about eight miles southeast of Quang Tri. In this incident the observer was killed but the pilot survived and was recovered by ground troops.
