A Nail FAC was lost as it was controlling a strike against a gun site near Ban Muang Angkhan in southern Laos, west of the DMZ. The aircraft was shot down by 37mm AAA and crashed a few miles away near Ban Loumpoum, killing the pilot. Attempts to find the crash site commenced in 1993 but it was not until 2019 that human remains and 1Lt Krogman’s ID tags were recovered. Confirmation of identity was announced on 7 July 2020 and 1Lt Krogman’s remains were buried on 21 July 2021 in his hometown of Worland, Wyoming. |
