| An O-1 from Pleiku was shot down during a FAC mission in the Central Highlands with the loss of its pilot. The aircraft (call sign Cagey 86) was controlling a strike on enemy troops in the Dak Na valley 20 miles north of Dak To when it was hit by small arms fire. 1Lt Abramoff succeeded in flying the Bird Dog out of the target area but the aircraft crashed killing him and injuring the observer who was rescued by a USAF HH-43B from Cam Ranh Bay. |
